Design Experiments is an ongoing body of work exploring the abstraction of natural processes through parametric design and experimental fabrication using volcanic stone.

Rather than reproducing natural forms, the project focuses on translating underlying generative logics into formal systems that can be computationally modeled and materially executed. The collection brings together two main lines of inquiry: diffusiophoresis-inspired pattern systems and hyperbolic structural geometries, both investigated as rule-based design frameworks rather than fixed objects.

Across the series, the design process itself becomes the primary subject of experimentation. Computational strategies such as parametric modeling and controlled variation are continuously negotiated with analog fabrication techniques, material behavior, and manual intervention. This back-and-forth between digital abstraction and physical constraint allows each piece to operate as a record of design decision-making across scales and modes of production.
